Morning Jack. I love music. I mainly listen to it in my car. Jim Croce at the moment. Phoebe Snow was a beautiful soul who loved her daughter more than life. Another great Talking to America read. Thank you
Thanks, Jack. I was a fan of her unique voice and style and was very disappointed when she seemed to disappear from public view. I appreciated the links to two performances, but the YouTube pages also had many others I enjoyed.
I agree. "At Last" and "Teach Me Tonight" are worth a listen. Interestingly, the name Phoebe Snow was originally a marketing device for the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad around 1900 when steam trains still put out soot and this character, Phoebe, could travel in a white dress because the DL&W had such efficiently filtered ventilation.
Such an angel voice. I imagine her daughter got many beautiful songs sung with much love.
Yes, that's a nice thought.

Loved her soulful voice and presentation. I played her first album constantly. I did think she was black as well. RIP.
I remember that. And Bonnie Raitt was also big then.
Phoebe Snow was always a personal favorite. I never knew she wasn't Black. Thank you for highlighting her talent and inner beauty.
